My name is Taylor Walker. I wanted to start this article off with a little back-story about myself.

In early 2015, I was attending a local college in my hometown of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. I was enrolled in an electrical program with the goal in my mind to become an electrician. This wasn’t exactly my first choice in life, and growing up I always knew I was destined to be in business for myself.

One night while browsing YouTube videos, I stumbled upon a video of a guy who was making a ton of money by running an online business. It was as if a light bulb went off over my head. From the day I learned you could make money on the Internet, I spent every possible minute trying to learn how I could start my own profitable Internet business.

Long story short, fast forward 1 year. I dropped out of college after my first year as I was making a six-figure salary at that point with my online business. I had no idea creating a profitable online business for myself would be as easy as it was.

Below I’ve listed what I believe to be the best and most profitable ways to start an online business for almost no money.

Create a Blog or a Website

Creating a blog or Website depending on the niche or topic can be extremely profitable. It is also much easier to create one than most people think. The truth is that everything you need to know to create an awesome Website can be learned by watching an hour long YouTube video. The costs are also pretty minimal; a typical Website if you create it yourself will only cost you around $100 per year.

The key to starting a profitable blog or Website is originality and choosing the right niche. There are two ways to go about choosing a niche. You can either choose a niche that you are interested in, or a niche that has very little competition. Personally, I think a mix of the two is best.

You want to choose something that won’t bore you to death when you are creating the content. So you should pick something that at least somewhat interests you.

In my opinion, however, it’s more important to choose a topic that doesn’t have too much competition, or it will be difficult to capture traffic. Find a niche that people are interested in, which not many other Websites are targeting, and go after it!

You’ll have an extremely low-cost, profitable online business before you know it.

Start a YouTube Channel

Starting a YouTube channel goes hand in hand with starting a Website. This was something that was a bit nerve wracking for me, as I’m not a big fan of being in front of a camera.

The fact is that creating YouTube videos is currently one of the most effective ways to drive traffic, from my experience. People love watching videos because they’re lazy. Nowadays, most people would much rather watch a short video as opposed to read an article.

YouTube is currently the second-biggest search engine, behind Google. Not to mention, Google also owns YouTube so naturally YouTube videos often feature in search results. So you get the picture now as to why YouTube is so powerful for driving traffic.

There are so many ways to make money with YouTube; the opportunities are endless.

Kindle E-Books

I think most people would be surprised how easy it is these days to publish and sell your own eBooks on Amazon. The best part is that you can write about literally anything.

I’ve written books of all types, everything from self-help books to cookbooks. Some books that I’ve written rarely ever get purchased, but I also have books that are purchased multiple times on a daily basis.

Amazon says that it sells more than 1 million Kindle eBooks per day. Kindle books are becoming more popular than regular paperback books, and with how easy they are to publish, I think everyone should be taking advantage of them.

Anybody can self-publish on Amazon Kindle. It is 100 percent free.

Social Media Management

Social media is taking the local business space by storm. The truth is that every local business these days needs a social presence. This opens up a huge opportunity for people who know how to use platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.

Social media managers are people who get paid to manage company social profiles. They are paid anywhere from $200-2000 dollars per month, depending on the client. The best part is that you can realistically work for many different companies at the same time since each company will only take up an hour or two of your time per day.

Most times, you will be required to make posts on a daily basis, as well as reply to comments and messages. Some companies will provide you with all of the information necessary for posts, and others will expect you to do the research and content creation yourself.
